When anyone thinks about a good time in Australia, it almost certainly consists of a hot summer’s day, sunscreen, maybe the beach, cricket and some beers. When you consider New Zealand is only about 3 hours off the east coast of Australia, it’s hard to imagine something much different when it comes to fun. Turns out it’s a fallacy with our Kiwi-cousins absolutely nailing it when it comes to having fun and throwing a party. Between the incredible scenery of Milford Sound, a visit to another world at Hobbiton or just doing any number of insane activities involving high speeds like jet boating, high heights like cable cars and treetop ropes courses or just to round it out, a combination of both with bungee jumping and skydiving, New Zealand has it all. If your heart is still racing after that, there’s also some of the world’s best wines to enjoy.
So, what happens when it gets cold?
It gets hotter. Hello Gay Ski Week QT.
Kicking into its fourth year, Gay Ski Week QT is the official Gay Ski Week of New Zealand and is the largest winter pride event in Australasia. This year, the celebration kicks off on Saturday 29th August for a week of parties, hot tubs and indulgence in the food and wine the land of the long white cloud is famous for. If by some miracle you happen to find the time, there’s also skiing, enjoying the perfect powder that has made Queenstown a repeat destinations for skiers worldwide.
The 2015 Gay Ski Week QT events are endless with something on offer every night. Featuring for another year the ever so popular MoreFM Opening, SKYCITY Queenstown Karaoke hosted by Miss Ribena and topped off with a final night hosted by Broken Shed with the theme ‘Once Upon a Time’. This year the events heat up with Gay Ski Week QT’s first ever LYC Wet & Wild Foam party, then get hot and bothered behind the wheel of a Porsche Cayenne Taxi with Speed dating at Highlands Motorsport Park with Highlands Hook-Up! If this is too hot to handle then dust of the evening wear and join us at The Rees for a ‘True South Dining Experience’, overlooking Lake Wakatipu, where your taste buds will be indulged with some of New Zealand’s finest over a 5 course degustation dinner.
