Brisbane Pride 2008 - Talking TravelAfter an inspirational ‘Welcome to Country’ by Aunty Carol, Members of Brisbane’s Gay and Lesbian Business network and Gay and Lesbian Tourism Australia enjoyed a lavish cocktail party hosted by the Spring Hill Hotel on the eve of Brisbane Pride Fair Day.

Presented as part of Brisbane Pride, guests in attendance included John Aitken – Brisbane Marketing CEO, Scott Hampson – Brisbane Pride President and Jeff Aquilina – Managing Director GALTA.

Brett Hayhoe, Publisher of Q Magazine spoke about his role as Interpride Regional Director, since being elected at the Conference held in Zurich in October 2007. Brett also gave details about the upcoming 2008 Conference to be held in Vancouver in October.

Formalities concluded with Jeff Aquilina making a presentation on behalf of the GALTA Board to Vincent Cooper (former Managing Director of GALTA), in recognition of his valuable support and contribution to Gay & Lesbian Tourism Australia (pictured above).

Guests had the opportunity to win one of the many door prizes supplied by Byron Bay’s Amber Gardens, Tenterfield Tourism, Kingfisher Bay Resort on Fraser Island, Rainbow Connections in Alice Springs and the Sea Change Beachfront Apartments in Cairns.

The evening concluded with award winning rock & roll dance duo, Micheal Bloom and Stewart Mauchlan, entertaining guests with highlights of the show that they performed on the last Australian Superstar Gemini coastal cruise.

A special thank you to Management and Staff of The Spring Hill Hotel who sponsored the event, and to all members who provided door prizes for the evening. It is anticipated a similar event will be held during Brisbane Pride 2009.
