GALTA appoints new BoardAt the AGM of GALTA ( Gay and Lesbian Tourism Australia) held at Airlie Beach last month the newly elected board made the following appointments

Rod Stringer from Horizons at Peregian Resort (Managing Director), Brett Hayhoe from Q magazine (Secretary) and Rohan Shearn(National administrator), Vincent Cooper (Director for Queensland), and Phil Walcott (Director for NT).

Other regional representatives are Wally Cowin (South East Queensland), Jeff Aquilina (Whitsundays) and Paul Dimmick (Tasmania).

The new MD for GALTA Rod Stringer said today that the organization has represented gay and lesbian tourism in Australia for the past 18 years and goes from strength to strength.

“Our immediate plans are for the introduction of an on-line tourism services directory (TSD). With most people now searching the internet for information on accommodations and gay friendly destinations, GALTA needs to service the needs of its membership and provide the latest information,” said Rod Stringer.

“GALTA represents all its members at the Pride Fair days throughout Australia and earlier this year attended a gay travel symposium at Florianópolis in Brazil . South America is an emerging market for gay travel and GALTA’s presence was warmly welcomed by the IGLTA.”
