Gay and Lesbian Tourism Australia (GALTA) have chosen the Gold Coast for their AGM and tourism seminar next Saturday (Sept 11). It will be hosted by Gold Coast Tourism who is actively seeking to attract more gay tourists to the city.
Rod Stringer, Managing Director of GALTA, said that gay and lesbian travelers were more discerning than ever and actively seek out accommodations and businesses deemed to be ‘gay friendly’.
“We have a broad range of members from boutique B&B’s to five star hotels. Membership is open to all businesses that have a genuine desire to offer the gay community a welcoming and friendly service.” said Mr Stringer.
“We are very excited that we are coming to Australia’s tourism capital and look forward to working with Gold Coast Tourism to assist them in developing their relationship with the gay travel market.”
GALTA has been established in Australia for some 18 years and its partnership with the International Association (IGLTA) gives its members access to over 2000 members worldwide. We represent our members at some 10 Pride and Mardi Gras events within Australia and overseas each year.
The seminar on gay tourism and internet marketing is being held at the Watermark Hotel following the AGM. All businesses are invited to attend and further information can be obtained by emailing the GALTA Secretariat at: admin@galta.com.au.
There are limited places still available. Cost is $50 which includes afternoon tea.
